Of Mercia, Lucia
- Born: 1040
- Marriage: De Tailliebois, Ives (Or Ivo)
General Notes:
#
Lucy, living 1130, widow successively of Ives Taillebois and Roger Fitz Gerold. Roots in four lines calls her only Lucy and lists no parents. RC: Lucy, mother of Lucy de Taillebois, who was called granddaughter of Lady Godiva. Ayers, citing "Anglo Saxon Kings, Bishops and Nobles" by Searle, lists a Lucia (?), wife of Ivo Taillebois, as daughter of Aelfgar (III) and Aelfgifu. Thus there is a conjectural relationship, with Lucia being Godiva's granddaughter. Butler chart lists her as a questionable daughter of Aelfgar (RIN 2373) and Alveva (RIN 2374). K. says flatly she was their daughter. She was the widow, one source says "probably," of Ivo Taillebois. Subsequently she married Roger FitzGerald (born about 1060), and they had William de Roumere, Second Earl of Lincoln. He was born about 1096 and died about 1161. After his death she married Ranulph le Meschin. Apparently his second wife. K. dubs her Lucia (Lucy), "the Countess." She was the granddaughter of Lady Godiva.
