Text: The family archives describe him as "Maredudd, first to regularly use the surname 'Phillips'". The archives go back nine more generations, but these are not all included here, as dates are missing, and my rendering of possible dates could make the history meaningless. A copy of the castle chart is included on the CD version of this family tree. 'Maredudd' is an early form of the name 'Martin'.
