bullet  General Notes:

children notes

Mary Grant was born ca 1811/12, presumably in Northampton Co, NC. Josiah Spivey obtained a marriage bond to marry her on 8 Apr 1833 in Northampton Co, NC. They were listed on the 1850 census in Northampton Co, NC.

William Grant was born ca 1818 in Northampton Co, NC. He was apparently at home with his parents until 1840, but I didn't find him listed on the 1850 census in Northampton Co, NC (or nearby counties). I didn't find him in 1860 either. He married Mary Frances Hayes.

Elizabeth Grant was a daughter per Frank Heiner. He didn't know who she married. I found two possibilities. Their was an Elizabeth born ca 1814/15 in Northampton Co, NC who married James Lane ca 2 Dec 1848 and in 1850 were just four houses from Shadrack. The other possibility is an Elizabeth Grant born ca 1813/14 who married Jason Williams ca 7 Oct 1835 in Northampton. In 1850 they weren't too close to Shadrack, but this fits better. I can't be sure if either one of these are the correct one though, at least not without additional data.

Emily Grant was a daughter per Frank Heiner. He didn't know who she married. I found two possibilities. Their was an "Emy Grant" who married John B. Odom ca 30 Nov 1837. I didn't find them in 1850. Another possibility is an "Emma Grant" born ca 1821/22 who married Aaron Spivey ca 16 Jan 1838. In 1850 they were in Northampton, but not close to any other Grant families.

Nancy Grant was a daughter per Frank Heiner. He didn't know who she married. I found one possibility. Their was a Nancy born ca 1823/24 who married Marmaduke Bryant ca 22 Dec 1841. In 1850 they weren't near Shadrack. I don't know if this is the one or not.

Sarah Grant was a daughter per Frank Heiner. He didn't know who she married. I found one possibility. Their was a Sarah Grant who married William H. Hargrave ca 13 Jan 1847. I didn't find them in 1850 though. I don't know if this is the right Sarah or not.

Martha Grant was born ca 1829/30, presumably in Northampton Co, NC. Henry Spivey obtained a marriage bond on 25 Sep 1849 in Northampton Co, NC to marry her. They were listed on the 1850 census in Northampton. He had several children that predate his marriage to Martha, so they are probably from a previous wife. A 78 year old Barsheba Spivey was with them also, and that may be his mother.

Eliza Grant was born ca 1832/33 in Northampton Co, NC. She was still at home with her parents in 1850. Francis M. Spivey obtained a marriage bond on 14 Dec 1857 to marry an Eliza Grant in Northampton. I'm not sure if that is this Eliza or not, but since two of her sisters married Spivey's, it sure could be. She was gone from her parents household by 1860, so that could be her marriage in 1857.

Barsheba married Shadrack Grant, son of John (Of Northampton) Grant and Mary. (Shadrack Grant was born on 1 Nov 1790 in Northampton County, NC and died on 3 Jan 1875 in Northampton County, NC.)
