Ancestor of Prof Frank L. Hager of Fayette, MO. Ancestor of Ray Lemming.

Marriage shown in "Maryland Marriages, 1634-1777", by Robert William Barnes; names spelled Häger and Keller.

Joel Hager shows his birth year as about 1747. Shown in the DAR records with birth year of 1743; Private with the VA volunteers.

In 1774, he was a deacon of the Salem Ref Church near Hagerstown.

"Revolutionary Patriots of Washington County, Maryland, 1776-1783", Henry C. Peden, Jr, LDS Ref 975.291 M28p: Took the Oath of Allegiance before the Hon. Henry Schnebley in 1778 [Ref: 1-49, J-13, which listed the name as "Michael Haggar"].

His will was in 1781, probated 6 Oct 1781: Wife Hannah use of plantation where I live until son Samuel is of age, mare, saddle & bridle, best furniture & cow. She is to support my family while a widow, if she marries to have only the saddle & bridle & estate to be sold & money to pay legacies. Son Samuel plantation & land where I live being 149 3/4 acres 26 perches. Daughters Susannah, Margaret, Catherine, Mary, & Rchel 30 pounds each. Whereas my wife is now pregnant, if a boy, he to share with Samuel; if a girl 30 pounds. Executor wife Hannah, Capt. John Cellars. Witnesses George Cellar, George Smith. Widow elected her thirds.

His wife was pregnant when he died in 1781.

Pauline Crevonis shows his death location as Montgomery Co., OH. If that is correct, he must have moved there between 1774 and 1781. However, his son, Johann Michael, was born in Hagerstown in 1781, so the Montgomery Co death location must be in error.
